MINISTRIES

To help you get to know us, below is a partial list of the ministries available through GSLC.

Being church together while praising God, helping the needy,

and encouraging each other is a powerful thing.

WORSHIP

Sunday worship opportunities currently include two distinctive styles of worship.

The 8:30 a.m. service is contemporary in style, with music by the "Believers Fire" Praise Band.  This is the less formal of the two styles.

The 11 a.m. service is traditional and formal in style.  It is more "high church" on festival days.  The pipe organ lead the musical worship.

YOUTH AND FAMILIES

Christian Education opportunities abound at Good Shepherd.  We offer Sunday School classes from age 3 through adult.  Youth in grades 7 and 8 participate in a 2-year confirmation curriculum.

Sunday School hour is 9:45AM to 10:45AM where students are taught the major stories of the bible and the lectionary readings of that Sunday.

Confirmation class covers the basics of Lutheranism and what it means to be an Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Lutheran.

OUTREACH

Opportunities for outreach abound at GSLC and beyond.  Church members are active in the community's version of "God's Work. Our Hands". The facility is open to such community groups as the American Red Cross Blood Bank, YMCA Line Dancing and Senior Excerise, Fishes and Loaves and Nick's Closet.  Our Evangelism Team also has new projects in the works to reach out to our churched and the un-churched.

Music

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church offers a variety of music for all ages.  Like to sing? The Chancel and Cherub Choirs are great places to start.  Come sing and praise God with your voices!  Looking for a way to glorify God through music, but singing isn't your forte?  The hand bell choirs are always looking for new members!  If you can read music, the Chancel Bells group is for you. Reading music is not required for the Genesis Bells group.

Social Ministry

Engaging in fellowship helps us grow to be more like Jesus.  The Social ministry team encourages "hospitality time" after each worship service.  The Narthex might be nicknamed "gathering space."  Goodies and drinks abound.

These disciples make hundreds of tied quilts yearly for Lutheran World Relief and local needs, provide Christmas baskets for local families, hold a Fish Fry during Conneaut D-Day Event weekend, and so much more.

Other Ministries

The following are just a few of the other ministries that the people of God at GSLC participate in:

  • Prayer Team ministry
  • Nisua baking
  • Member Maintenance Ministry ("3M's")
  • Sunday Worship Stewards
  • Altar Guild, supporting worship from behind the scenes
  • Lunches for the community
  • Food Pantry

OTHER WAYS TO SERVE

If you are looking for a way to serve the Lord, no need to look further. We have areas in which everyone,                                                                   from all walks of life, can serve. If you have any questions about any of these fields please let us know.

All of our different areas that you can serve are broken down into specific groups. We hope that you will be able to find a ministry that you can best use your time and talents. This means if you have a strong back, we would love your support in lawn care around the church or the Member Maintenance Ministry.  If you love children, we love to see volunteers with our Sunday School and Vacation Bible School times.  If you like to read and/or lead worship, the pastor has a place for you.  See the full list of ministries.
